How to write good content for your Website

The content on your Website will be the key to its success. It must inspire the user to want to keep reading and inform search engines that you have something important to say.

Website Content Copywriting entails creating Website textual content that is engaging, unique, informative, and focused on selling you, your business, your products and your services.

If your business Website relies heavily on search engine traffic, its content needs to be written so that the right people are directed to it via search engines. Your textual content must include targeted keywords and key phrases in particular frequencies and densities. What do I mean by frequency and density?

Keyword frequency and density

Keyword frequency refers to the number of times a keyword or keyword phrase appears within a Web page. The theory is that the more times a keyword or keyword phrase appears, the more relevance a search engine is likely to give the page when a searcher uses those keywords.

Keyword density refers to the ratio (percentage) of keywords contained within the total number of indexable words within a Web page. An indexable word is a word that appears in the content of your Website that can be read and consequently remembered by search engines. The preferred keyword density ratio varies from search engine to search engine.

Keywords and key phrases, help search engine algorithms and Website users recognise the relevance and quality of your content. What do I mean by quality and relevance?

Quality and Relevance

Content should be displayed on Websites that is clear and to the point. It must be written in legible and understandable “plain” English”. Unlike a good novel, readers of Web pages do not spend a lot of their time reading textual content from start to finish. Most Website users will scan your Web pages for information that is relevant to their needs. Factors such as the amount of content, length of paragraphs, headings (and subheadings), style and tone must be considered. Your content should be structured in such a way that readers can quickly and easily find what they are looking for.

To effectively portray your business as professional and trustworthy, your textual content needs to be written so that it builds credibility, tells the reader that you know what you are talking about and persuasive enough so that the reader takes action to buy your products or use your services. Your Website content needs to be considered interesting by the reader and worthwhile by search engines.  Lastly, it must be compelling.
